![]() New York State Proposes Formamide Prohibition in Certain Children’s ProductsNew York recently introduced two proposals to prohibit the use of formamide in foam mat products. The enforcement date would be 1 December 2017.
On 7 January 2015, the New York state legislature introduced bill A106 and companion bill S583 to prohibit the use of formamide in foam mat products for children up to the age of three. If approved, the new law will take effect on the date of enactment, and the prohibition of formamide will be enforced starting 1 December, 2017. Formamide in Foam Mats to Be Prohibited Under the proposal, “foam mat product” is defined as mats, mattresses and cushions, including mats, pads, mattresses and cushions in connection with bedding, changing platforms, strollers and carriages, high chairs, car seats, play pens and toys.
