SPLIT, Croatia - Feb. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- Hospital administrators, insurance and human resource professionals and related travel and tourism interests can gain education and training leading toward medical tourism certification at a workshop sponsored jointly by the Medical Tourism Association® and the Health Tourism Industry Conference, March 14, 2015, at Krapinske, Toplice, in Croatia.

Participants who complete the workshop will be eligible to take the Certified Medical Tourism Professional® exam, which upon passage, communicates a specialized expertise and commitment to best practices recognized by healthcare providers, insurance entities, government agencies and tourism and travel facilitators worldwide.

“Eastern Europe is embracing medical tourism in an effort to lure western Europeans and Americans for procedures and treatments,” said Renée-Marie Stephano (http://www.medicaltourismcongress.com/renee-marie-stephano-jd/), President of the Medical Tourism Association®. “The idea is that training the region’s surgeons, dentists, nurses and other specialists in the protocols that heighten the medical tourism patient experience will not only influence healthcare consumers from across the globe to visit Croatia and other nearby Eastern European countries, but help reverse a flow of skilled health workers to private-sector offerings in the West.”

Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, and Hungary, among the worst-hit countries of the economic crisis that befell Europe beginning half-a-decade ago, had been beset by an exodus of doctors, nurses and assistants to urban areas in Germany, France, Spain and Italy, where working and living conditions tended to be better.

“The tide is turning,” said Stephano. “Croatia can obviously boast natural beauty – a sunny Adriatic coastline – and advanced technology in its hospitals and clinics. Investment like this toward training and planning along with services – so, essential to elevating medical tourism in the region – is bringing the doctors and nurses back to not only Croatia, but all countries in Eastern Europe.”

Topics under discussion at the workshop include:

·         Medical tourism industry;

·         Medical tourism facilitator;

·         Patient experience;

·         Marketing;

·         Incorporating technology into your medical tourism business.
