VIENNA - Jan. 28, 2016 - PRLog -- In spite economic uncertainty in parts of Europe, healthcare in Austria continues to thrive, prompting regional hospital administrators, doctors and clinicians, insurance and human resource professionals and related travel and tourism interests to expand their knowledge in medical tourism at a workshop, March 5, 2016, in Vienna, Austria, the Medical Tourism Association®, a sponsor of the training and certification program, announced today.

Participants who complete the workshop – held as part of the Health Tourism Industry Conference (http://www.hticonference.com/), March 3-4, 2016 -- will be eligible to take the Certified Medical Tourism Professional® exam, which upon passage, communicates a specialized expertise and commitment to best practices recognized by healthcare providers, insurance entities, government agencies and tourism and travel facilitators worldwide.

Encouraged by the European Union Cross-Border Directive on Care, an increasing number of patients from within the 28-member nation organization are shopping around for medical opportunities including regular checkups, targeted diagnostics, elective surgeries and complex rehabilitations in Austria, said Renée-Marie Stephano (http://www.medicaltourismcongress.com/renee-marie-stephan...), President of the Medical Tourism Association®.

“Doctors, clinicians and all who have a part in the medical tourism experience are stepping up their practices to accommodate patients who are expecting assurances for quality,” she said. “This means acquiring the training, knowledge and understanding so that consumers – patients, employers and industry peers – can be confident in the services they demand.”

Stephano said Europeans are being joined by patients from Asia, the United States and Commonwealth of Independent States -- Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan – looking for alternatives to some of the more traditional medical tourism destinations.

“Trial-and-error – at the risk of enormous consequence – should not be an accepted operating procedure,” she said. “The good news is that certified training is enabling serious industry professionals to not only coordinate and secure positive medical tourism experiences for patients and providers alike, but to expand their personal career opportunities and enhance prospects for job promotions.”
