Top Phoenix Airport Hotel Announces Dual Wins from Hospitality Industry Group

PHOENIX - Jan. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- The Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport is pleased to announce the receipt of two high-ranking awards from the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International’s Arizona Chapter (HSMAI). The awards include “General Manager of the Year” going to the property’s leader Darlene Heavlin, and the “Hospitality Sales & Marketing Professional of the Year” accolade going to Lynn Flosi, Director of Sales and Marketing for the recently renovated property.

Each year HSMAI AZ recognizes a select handful of professionals from the Arizona business community including full and limited service hotels, tourism industry professionals, food and beverage, catering and dining professionals, meeting planners and staff from local events and attractions. The awards were determined based on nomination by members of the Arizona HSMAI chapter, and then by vote from group’s board of directors. The Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport property recently underwent a $10 million dollar renovation that is complimented by the award-winning staff of seasoned talent.

General Manager Darlene Heavlin hails from a sales background and inspires her team by example with a special brand of leadership that includes a commitment to engagement.  Darlene’s philosophy is to be always available to listen to any guest, client or employee, and her teams have consistently ranked in the top 10 for Outstanding Customer Satisfaction. In addition to the HSMAI award, Darlene’s team was also recently recognized with the West Coast Division for Crown Plaza’s Phone-a-Palooza.

A 25-year hospitality industry veteran, Lynn Flosi was honored based on numerous points of pride including her active contributions to the local HSMAI chapter, her generous participation with co-workers and industry peers, and she is a member in good standing for the board of directors of Phoenix-based Kitchen on the Street; a non-profit organization providing much needed support and sustenance to fighting child hunger. She has previously spearheaded fundraising efforts for the Virginia G. Piper Center and Susan G. Komen Foundation.
