New Ofcom Ruling “Does Not Go Far Enough” says Communication Specialist Rainbow Global

03 Prefixes to Replace 08 Premium Numbers

Ofcom’s new ruling that traditional premium 08 phone numbers will be phased out within two years comes into place on June 13^th this year.

Phone numbers such as those starting with 0845 and 0844 have long been viewed with suspicion by the public for their high costs, with companies using them gaining a share of the profit. Ofcom instead are introducing an 03 prefix which will allow organisations a national point of contact without consumers having to pay extra to call them. Organisations will not be allowed to benefit from the share of the call with the new 03 numbers.
