CHICAGO - Jan. 15, 2015 - PRLog -- (CHICAGO) -- The Chicago Federation of Labor (http://www.chicagolabor.org) announced that they are supporting the re-election of William D. (Will) Burns as Alderman for the Fourth Ward of Chicago.

The organization issued the following statement about their endorsement process:

“After a thorough vetting process, representatives to the CFL’s Committee on Political Education voted to endorse candidates for Chicago Aldermen. All of the candidates endorsed by the CFL understand the issues facing working families and have a proven record of standing up for the rights of the middle class.”

“I’d like to thank the Chicago Federation of Labor for their support of my re-election,” said Burns.  I grew up in a union family, and as a consequence, I have worked diligently to support working men and women throughout my career.”

Burns relates that his grandfather was a member of the United Auto Workers (UAW) and his father was a member of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association (CPPA).  He also co-chaired the working group that put forth the $13/hour minimum wage that was passed in City Council on December 2, 2014.  The ordinance will, over a period of time, give 410,000 Chicagoans a raise and create  $860 million in economic stimulus for the City.

The general election will be held Tuesday, February 24 and early voting begins Monday, February 9.  For more information about the campaign or to volunteer please visit www.friendsofwillburns.com or contact Jazmine Johnson at the campaign office, 773-916-6605.
