![]() A basic introduction of SIP TrunkingSIP Trunking introduction given by Stuart Griffiths CEO of the True Telecom
By: True Telecom It’s not that you aren’t interested or don’t want to learn, it’s just the fact that all of this information seems well… too technical? What I have done here is a basic guide to SIP Trunking, and I have tried to make it as easy and as simple to follow as possible. What does SIP stand for? Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) What is SIP trunking? SIP basically allows you to communicate over the internet via instant messaging, multimedia conferencing, emergency phone calls, and various other real-time services. The various communication methods can be run over your IP network or internet connection. You can have as many telephone numbers as you want and you can increase these as and when needed, without any limit! This is an easy and simple solution which is less expensive for your business in terms of operating, maintaining and upgrading. Trunk basically means a line that connects the switching equipment. What are the benefits of using SIP trunking? This is my favourite part, telling you the benefits of SIP Trunking and how it can provide real value to your business. If you have a relatively large company and offices in the UK and EU, or even further afield, keep reading. Let’s begin, imagine you have a company’s Head Office in London, and then regional offices in Kent, Essex and Surrey. You then have European offices in Paris and Rome. And let’s throw in branch offices and depots throughout the UK and EU. Now let’s rewind and say that currently your business is using ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network), all of your sites will have to use the internet and a telephone network in order to communicate with each other. However with SIP, all your sites at home and overseas can voice communicate, do video conferencing, and transfer and share data as easily as calling the extension in the office next to yours. Your UK sites can all share the same telephone number which could be a corporate number or non-geographic, it really doesn’t matter. You can then operate a single, centralised reception facility to just re-direct the calls to the appropriate site, office or department as and when required and also… wait for it… you will NOT incur any extra transfer charges what-so-ever!!! So you’re now wondering how? Call True Telecom today and we will talk you through it. 0800 8 40 40 60 or visit us at http://www.true- End
