MobileApp Systems Announces New Proto Armour Enclosure for Raspberry Pi B+ and Camera

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - Jan. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- MobileApp Systems, a New York company specializing in the development of powerful solutions for the latest mobile platform technologies, has announced they are releasing a new model of their Proto Armour enclosures in conjunction with the release of the newest Raspberry Pi system, the Model B+. The latest Proto Armour case is made to work seamlessly with the RPi Model B+ and Camera Module, allowing easy access to new ports and micro SD card slot.

“Our new Proto Armour case will provide the same great fit and protection that people love about our other cases,” said Tom Skwara, representative for Mobile App Systems. “We focused on making this case even more versatile for users while maintaining the footprint and mounting capabilities to make upgrading easy.”

Skwara says that his company's Proto Armour cases for the RPi B+ are very popular, and wanted to make an enclosure available that protects both the RPi B+ and camera module. There are many Raspberry Pi cases on the market, but very few that combine both the RPi B+ board and camera module in a single rugged case.  "We spent a lot of time on making sure the camera module fits into the case perfectly, with repeatable registration between the image sensor and case geometry.  This will be very important as we introduce new external lens adapters that rely on precise distances between the lens and image sensor plane".

In addition to updating the structure of their cases to allow access to new ports on the B+ system, the company changed how passive cooling will work. Many of our customers don't overclock the RPi and need more internal clearance for add-on boards, said Skwara.  Changing it allowed greater flexibility to customers who wanted to be able to plug in additional peripherals. For customers who need passive cooling, especially when over clocking the CPU, the company will be offering an add-on heatsink component tailored specifically for the Proto Armour for Raspberry Pi B+ enclosures.  It will be available on their website very soon.

Raspberry Pi systems, while originally manufactured as an inexpensive computer alternative for students and educators, have become a hit with product designers at companies around the world.   “We’re working with several large companies who are integrating the RPi B+ and camera module into their production lines and end products,” said Skwara. “We’re excited to partner with more companies for their enclosure needs, giving them a solution that frees up their engineers to focus on other end-product design tasks.”
