American Paper & Twine Co. Announcing The Teacher of the Week - Week Thirteen

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nov. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- American Paper & Twine Co., Titans Radio and Georgia-Pacific Communication Papers announced Tammy Sheppard, a Science teacher from Winfree Bryant Middle School in Lebanon, Tennessee, was selected as Teacher of the Week, for week thirteen of the Tennessee Titans 2014 football season.

“American Paper & Twine, along with our partners at Georgia-Pacific Communication Papers and Titans Radio, have a great deal of admiration for those who dedicate their lives to educating children,” said Lonnie Spivak, American Paper & Twine Co. e-Commerce and Marketing Manager. “Every week of the Titans season we carefully review all of the entries to find a teacher that stands out from the rest, and this week we have selected Tammy Sheppard.”

Ms. Sheppard was nominated by Perry Ogletree who said, “I am a mentor for the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) and assist with the NASA Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS). Over the past three years I have worked closely with Ms. Sheppard to enhance the experience for her students in STEM activities. She is an example of a science teacher who goes well beyond the usual to provide her students with an exciting experience.”

Perry continued, “Tammy’s  application of science and challenges she provides her students have achieved a state of excitement beyond any I have ever seen in the great many schools I have visited. She has been instrumental in shaping the futures of many students who have gone on to careers in science and engineering. Ms. Sheppard deserves this award as well as many others.”

Each week during the Titans’ season, submissions are reviewed to find exceptional teachers. The winning teachers receive a $400 gift basket full of supplies for their classroom and two tickets to see a Tennessee Titans home game. A new winner is announced every Tennessee Titans game and at the end of the season a ‘Teacher of the Year’ is selected from the Teacher of the Week winners. This deserving teacher will receive an award, a gift basket of school supplies (worth approx. $800) and tickets to the December 28th game vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
