Wee Forest Folk Releases 3 New Handcrafted Miniature Mouse Angels

CARLISLE, Mass. - Nov. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Wee Forest Folk^®, producers of high-quality, fanciful miniatures handcrafted in the USA, announces the release of a brand-new collection of “Vintage Snowdrops” mouse figurines, available for holiday gift-giving.

The family-owned company specializes in tiny handcrafted figures featuring mostly mice, but also bears and bunnies in a variety of themes. The launch of the “Vintage Snowdrops” collection consists of three figures, all designed by family member Willy Petersen, which may be used for individual display or as part of a larger collection. Ranging in size from 1" to 3", these endearing new creations are shown in sweet, caring poses and include:

• Lullaby Angel: Gowned in pale rose with an iridescent finish, this motherly mouse tenderly rocks an infant in a beautifully detailed cradle. Lullaby Angel measures 1.5" x 1.625" and has a suggested retail price of $142.

• Sing-along Angel: In a whimsical scene straight out of a storybook, Sing-along Angel uses a concertina to accompany two birds perched on a tree branch outside their intricately crafted home. The musical mouse is clad in soft blue with an iridescent finish, and the birdhouse was designed to evoke a “glitter house,” the vintage Christmas village ornament that was popular from 1928 to the 1950s. The piece measures 3" x 1.875" and has a suggested retail price of $218.

•Loving Angel: In a touching show of affection, Loving Angel cuddles a bluebird, her iridescently finished, pale-green gown a beautiful complement to the color of the bird. Loving Angel measures 1.125" x 1.375" and has a suggested retail price of $98.

The overriding concept of the collection is to capture the nostalgia of cozy Christmases of old, with sweet poses, charming details such as toadstools topped with Christmas red, and the spirit of giving. Collectors will want to take note that additional figures will be added to the “Vintage Snowdrops” collection in the future.

In keeping with Wee Forest Folk tradition, Willy Petersen sculpts the original angel by hand and begins the molding process. Talented artists then undertake the careful and meticulous process of casting, airbrushing, and hand-painting each one, followed by delicate assembly. Applying a fine glitter and glaze are the finishing touches before the piece is mounted on a snowy base and accessories are added—often with tweezers.  The process involves more than a dozen pairs of hands and can take months to complete.
