Application Deadline for The Meadows School Founders’ 50/50 Scholarship is Nov. 14, 2014

LAS VEGAS - Nov. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- The application deadline for The Meadows School (http://www.themeadowsschool.us/) (TMS) Founders’ 50/50 Scholarship, a four-year scholarship that covers half of a student’s tuition to TMS Upper School, is 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014. Applicants must be an 8th grade student not currently enrolled at TMS. They also must have completed Algebra 1. Academically ambitious and involved in extracurricular activities, applicants must demonstrate how they will contribute to the School. To be considered, students must submit a completed application form, a 300-word personal essay, their most recent report card as well as including a non-academic recommendation from an extra-curricular teacher or coach. On Monday, Dec. 8, TMS will contact 20 finalists who will continue the admission process that involves testing and interviews. The five scholarship recipients will be announced mid-February.

“Our goal is to provide the Valley’s top students who are not currently enrolled in The Meadows School with an opportunity to receive the type of education that will give them value long after graduation day,” said Jeremy Gregersen, TMS’ Head of School.  He notes that the scholarship is made possible through TMS’ partnership with a major donor.

In the last five years, TMS has given out more than $6.5 million in scholarship. “We’re very serious about extending the best education possible to students in Las Vegas; ten cents of every dollar is applied towards scholarships,” added Gregersen.

TMS has a 100 percent four-year college acceptance rate and has produced numerous National Merit and Presidential Scholar recipients.

On Wednesday, Nov.12, 2014 TMS will be hosting a “Meet the Mustangs” open house event for prospective Upper School students at 9:00 a.m. Prospective 9th grade students will tour the campus, meet students and teachers and attend sample classes that showcase TMS academics, art programs, student clubs and athletics.
