College of Business Administration Year of MORE Program a Success

KENT, Ohio - Oct. 31, 2014 - PRLog -- The College of Business Administration’s Undergraduate Programs Office in partnership with the Career Services Office hosted a Year of MORE program: Preparing for Your Job and Internship Search last week.

The program offered current students the opportunity to ask a panel of upperclassmen and recent graduates questions about how to find an internship, prepare for an internship and what to expect during an internship. The panel provided insight into their various areas of expertise describing the process of identifying and searching for an internship, advice and responsibilities and projects completed during their internship.

“I learned from students who have gone through the process what to do and what not to do,” said Brandon Gonos, sophomore Computer Information Systems major. Some of the tips I would not have even considered. It was a very beneficial event.”

“Hearing from their peers about these important decisions is reassuring and builds confidence. Our panelists are strong role models for our younger students and provide insights and leadership in what can sometimes be a tricky path to navigate,” said Holly Klenk, associate director of the Career Services Office.

“We created this program to allow for our Year of MORE students to explore and engage with current and recent graduate students to learn first-hand how to successfully search for an internship and job,” said Nicole Kotlan, academic program director for the Undergraduate Programs Office.

The Year of MORE program is targeted to second year students to help them explore career opportunities, while encouraging student involvement on campus. The M in MORE means making a choice towards a major and/or minor, O stands for organization involvement, R stands for required advising and E stands for experiences, whether it be education abroad, internships, or community service.

“Career explorations as well as business experience opportunities are so important for our students to consider,” Kotlan said.
