Release 5: Bringing together Microsoft Office and SharePoint for process automation


Much of the new features and functions in the new release are centered on bringing together business forms and documents commonly in MS Excel, MS Word, PDF or Web into the business automation structure of SP Business Suite in SharePoint.

Users use the same forms they are comfortable with, and the business gets the process automation it needs to operate more efficiently. For input Employees can use existing forms and submit them into SharePoint (a submit button) to trigger processes and data mapped into SharePoint lists / libraries for reporting and back office system uploads. Examples are:

* Excel forms – Expenses, Time-Sheets, Budget data, Quotes, etc.
* Word forms – Purchase Requests, Procedure forms etc.
* PDF forms – HR forms, Safety forms, Tax Forms etc.
* Web form – Sales Leads, Job Applicants, Customer Support Tickets

Once submitted (to a central Portal) forms are automatically routed to the appropriate SP Business Suite department site and document library for processing and storage. Forms and data are now organized for reporting, audit requirements and reviews.

Integration between SharePoint and MS Office does not stop there, SP Business Suite modules also support document generation from SharePoint list data into Word, PDF and Excel. Examples are:

* Sales and Customer Documents – Proposal, SOW and Contract generation from SP CRM
* New Hire documents – Process documents for the new hire process in SP HR
* Legal or Regulatory Reports – Safety, Healthcare, ISO9000, etc.

The new form / document integration is delivered in pre-packaged templates with SP Business Suite modules. These templates can be customized or new forms/documents developed with SP Marketplace Services or by the customer themselves using tools available from SP Marketplace through partnerships with Qorus Software, FormRouter and DC Software.

Release 5: Better module integration and consistent design across portals

When purchased as SP Marketplaces Suites, the modules are better integrated. Department service request routing is simplified, and approvals processing flows are setup through simple list changes. All Employee related lists (Directory, HR Employee Info, etc.) can be populated from a common source Office 365 User Profile data. Department Portals are redesigned to use consistent page layout and structures, with simplified permissions structure.

In the Customer Suite (CRM, Customer Service, and Projects), all modules are integrated allowing team members to share Account information as well as support case and project status across sites.

SP Business Suite applications are available immediately and support both Office 365 SharePoint Online and SharePoint on premise.
