BAY SHORE, N.Y. - Oct. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- Following the success of its two previous Walks this summer, Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. (ADRC) will have its 3rd Annual Westhampton Beach Walk for Alzheimer’s & Fall Festival on October 18 at the Village Green (intersection of Main Street and Mill Road) in Westhampton Beach. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 9 a.m. and the Walk at 10 a.m. Lunch and entertainment will follow afterwards at 11:45 a.m. After the Walk, participants will return to the Village Green for a fall-themed lunch buffet, petting zoo, face painting, cotton candy and music.

There is no registration fee for teams or walkers who raise donations for the Walk. For those who wish to register the day of the Walk, general admission is $20.00 for adults, $10.00 for teens, and $5.00 for children two years of age and older. Children under two are free. Family discount packages (two adults and two children) are available for $25.00. All the proceeds will go to support ADRC’s mission to fight this devastating disease. Participants who raise $100.00 or more will receive a 2014 Walk lunch tote and a Westhampton Beach Walk T-shirt.

The Westhampton Beach Walk for Alzheimer’s commemorates the three-year anniversary of the grand opening of ADRC’s office in Southampton. This satellite office was designed to allow care consultants to schedule caregiver support groups, family meetings, and to provide information for families and individuals on the East End of Long Island who are coping with Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease will rapidly escalate, increasing well beyond today’s estimated 5.4 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s, 60,000 of whom live here on Long Island.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available and registration is still ongoing. For more information, please contact Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director/CEO, at (631) 820-8068 or visit www.adrcinc.org.
