NEW YORK - Oct. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Pet costumes, treats and celebrating…oh my! On Monday, October 20, 2014 at 8PM EST Petrendologist Charlotte Reed will host her online, petcentric Halloween party at #PetrendHoliday to celebrate the rising trend of outfitting and celebrating with one’s furry friends! Reed’s hair-raising soiree will welcome pet owners to discuss the best pet costumes, healthy and tasty pet treats, and how to safely decorate for your pets. Grab your pet and join Reed for #PetrendHoliday!

According to the National Retail Federation Halloween Consumer Spending Survey, Americans are expected to spend $2.8 billion on Halloween costumes.  Of that amount, $350 million will be spent on pet costumes.Findings revealed that among the 14.3 percent of celebrants planning to outfit their pets, 10.8 percent will dress their furry friends as a pumpkin, the top costume again this year. Fido and Fluffy will also be found disguised as hot dogs, devils, bumble bees, and cats.

According to Petrendologist Charlotte Reed, “For the last twenty years, pets have been considered part of the family. As such, pet parents enjoy celebrating holidays with their four-legged family members. When Halloween rolls around, pet owners jump on the chance to find the right costume for Fido and Fluffy; to take pictures and to share them on their social media channels; and, to participate in pet store contests, invitation only events and community parades. However, it is important to choose the best costumes which are both cute and comfortable for your dog or cat and to have a pet safety strategy when celebrating.  Additionally, during the #PetrendHoliday Twitter Party, I will discuss how to prevent overspending on pet costumes, the importance of purchasing healthy treats, proper pet and pet owner behavior at events, and provide decorating tips."

Topics that will be also covered during #PetrendHoliday Twitter Event include:
DYI Costume
Kids & Pets
Stay at Home Pets
And More!
