Volkert Sees Bright Future For Mid-south Infrastructure!

JACKSON, Miss. - Sept. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Volkert, Inc. has named Katie Wimberly, P.E., CFM to the position of Civil Hydraulic Engineer in the company's water resources division. Katie joined Volkert, Inc. in May, 2014 as a Project Engineer in the Jackson, MS location. In her new role, Mrs. Wimberly will be assisting with the firm's Hydrologic and Hydraulic Studies, Roadway Drainage Design, and Bridge Hydraulic Design. Mrs. Wimberly has over 7 years of experience as an engineer/designer, and has worked on a variety of different projects for the Mississippi Department of Transportation - Hydraulic Division and other private/public entities. These projects include Bridge Hydraulic Studies, Conditional Letters of Map Revision, Letters of Map Revision, Dam Breach Inundation studies, storm water runoff/drainage studies for water quality and detention/retention analysis. She has also worked on a few residential/commercial site development projects. Mrs. Wimberly holds a bachelor's degree in science with an emphasis in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University. She has served as Secretary, Vice-President, and President of the Jackson, MS Branch of ASCE and the President Elect, President, and currently serving as a Director of the MS Section of ASCE.

Wes Ashworth, P.E., P.L.S. has joined the firm to help further develop their growing portfolio of regional and national accounts. As Senior Design Engineer. Wes has over 34 years’ experience as a Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor and has a wealth of knowledge within the civil engineering and land development industry, having spent 28 years at Ashworth Engineering in Collierville, Tn. where he grew his firm from a two man operation to over 50 employees. Wes comments” I am excited to be starting this new opportunity with Volkert and look forward to working with the team to help grow their already extensive service suite. After such a long hard recession, I’m immensely optimistic and thrilled at the thought of beginning a new era of rebuilding and growing the Mid-South area’s infrastructure.”
