| Healthy Hands, Inc. Accepting DonationsNon-profit aims to fight health care-associated infections with education
Healthy Hands, Inc. is the brainchild of Drs. John Budi and Nisha Haque. "We presented research at Mercy Hospital as medical students and were shocked at the response,” said Budi. “One individual asked why hand-hygiene was necessary given India's hot climate. This is an incorrect line-of-thought and shows how much work needs to be done." “Most health care-associated infections are preventable through good hand hygiene – cleaning hands at the right times and in the right way,” World Health Organization (WHO) states in its Clean Care Programme. According to WHO, “hundreds of millions of patients around the world are affected by health care-associated infections.” Donations to Healthy Hands, Inc. will fund campaigns, purchase sorely needed supplies, provide translation needed and consultant research. ABOUT HEALTHY HANDS, INC. Healthy Hands Inc. aims to reduce high rates of infection at Mercy Hospital and its areas of coverage in Calcutta, India. We will do so by implementing high-quality, sustainable education programs for physicians and patients. The programs will teach the international protocols on hand hygiene techniques. Our first campaign will take place in April 2015. Healthy Hands Inc. is run by an experienced and dedicated force of volunteers. On staff, we have two physicians, a fourth-year medical student, and a non-profit consultant. Together they provide expertise in the wide range of areas necessary to execute projects at Calcutta Mercy Hospital.
