| Local Carpenters Union volunteers to build 9/11 MemorialBy: Group 7even The memorial, located at the entrance to the Rowland Nature Preserve in Lorain County, pays homage to those fallen in the September 11 tragedy. The project was completed by union volunteers from various trades. The Carpenters Union spent hours on the concrete portion of the memorial, and Local 373 donated $1,000 to help fund the remainder of the project. The funds also covered the cost of two pavers to be installed around the walk way displaying each Local’s name, number and logo. “Anything we can do to give back and to help recognize our fallen Americans is a must,” said William Karkoff, IKORCC Representative. “We are so honored to have been a part of this project, and we are proud of everyone who contributed to it.” “Thank you so much,” said Rob Scheithauer, an Elyria Township trustee and member of Sheet Metal Local 33. “We couldn’t have done it without the trades.” For more information about this project, please contact William Karkoff at wkarkoff@ikorcc.com.
