Allegations Within the Complaint While heading home on August 8, 2014, Mariah was approached by a man who she did not know, who she later came to learn was an underocover NYPD Officer. She was told to get against a car and then another officer arrived and grabbed her, which caused her to cry. After being frisked by a female officer who was called to the scene, Mariah was told she was being arrested for a drug offense, but she had no drugs or contraband on her person. Next, Mariah was handcuffed excessively tightly and although she asked that the cuffs be loosened, her request was denied and this caused swelling of her wrists. After spending about four hours at the precinct being processed, Mariah was transported to Central Booking to await arraignment. Once before a criminal court judge, Mariah learned that she was being criminally charged with two counts of trespassing. The criminal charges that had been lodged against her were then adjourned in contemplation of dismissal. Michael J. Redenburg, Esq. represents Mariah and represents many other false arrest victims as well. Office located at 150 Broadway, Room 808, NY, NY 10038. 212-240-9465 www.mjrlaw-ny.com End
