DieGo Comic Publishing ready to launch Desdemona Metus graphic novels series!
Mystery and crime in Florence: Desdemona is the young radio DJ protagonist of the new graphic novels series to be presented at The 72nd World Science Fiction Convention next week in London-UK by the independent publishing house DieGo Comics Publishing which continues its efforts to introducing great Italian authors into English. The young small press has also launched a crwodfunding campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds for completing the translation of the thirteen volumes of the series.
In today’s modern age, however, Florence is scene to the adventures of Desdemona Metus, university student by day and radio DJ by night. The city she walks is not the one you find in tourist guides - it is HER Florence, as dark as night, in which crime and politics are intertwined with mysteries of the city that will grip you! Go past the olive groves and into the dark maze of Florence’s streets, where "ordinary" stories cross with international conspiracy. This is Desdemona, a journey of discovery into Florence and Italy.
“Desdemona is an innovative character, of a comic book without superheroes or extraordinary powers, monsters, elves or dragons.” says CEO Giuseppe Pennestri. “Our hero is not without fear or flaw for Desdemona makes mistakes - as with every human being - and shares these experiences in her broadcasts that cover so many odd things.”
Translate and publish thirteen episodes of ninety-six pages each asiyr is a huge task, as one can imagine, they are lucky to have a devoted team that has already translated the first three episodes of the series and they have produced a special issue to introduce Desdemona, but to be able to complete the full series they have recently launched a Kickstarter campaign, with awesome rewards for their backers. Desdemona Metus project must reach their £4,000 goal by August 23, 2014 in order to publish the complete series. Giuseppe Di Bernardo
Creator, along with Andrea J. Polidori, of the radio DJ Desdemona Metus, that was first published in Italy in 1994. Moreover he made the pencils for 'Un giorno da cani' and in 2002 he joined the staff of Diabolik as regular illustrator for the comics series. In 2008 he creates, with Smocovich Mauro and Carlo Lucarelli, the comic character Cornelius for Star Comics. Di Bernardo is also author for the science-fiction series The Secret. He also teaches at the International School of Comics and writes novels.
