Jampaper.com Expands Web Presence in Light of NYC Rent Spikes
The Manhattan-based office supply and stationery manufacturer has recently partnered with several top online retailers to reach a wider audience.
In recent months, JAM has partnered with several top online retailers in an effort to reach more customers. JAM products are now available through 12 websites, including Jampaper.com, Staples.com, Amazon.com, Quill.com, and Sears.com, among others. The added sales from these channels will help offset the increasing price of rent for the company’s physical store on Third Avenue between 14th and 15th streets in Manhattan.
JAM COO Andrew Jacobs, a Manhattan resident, has seen many popular establishments crumble recently under high rent prices. “New York City rent is astronomical and will only continue to go higher,” said Jacobs. “This makes our internet presence even more critical. We are always striving to feature our products in as many online channels as possible at the best prices.”
Despite the growing shift from physical shopping to online shopping, JAM does not plan on diverting attention away from its brick and mortar store in Manhattan, where the company has existed for decades.
“Although we intend to be a permanent neighborhood institution here in our flagship store on East 14th Street, we can’t deny the rapid changes in our industry. While we have consolidated our retail stores, our sales have boosted due to our online expansion and strategic partnerships with other ecommerce entities, like Staples.com,”
JAM is one paper company that continues to grow despite the rise of paperless technology. That is because many professionals believe paper products will always have an important place in our society. Lion Godchaux, a Manhattan hotel manager, echoed that sentiment:
“Paper, especially the colorful paper and envelopes that JAM is known for, will always be a classier alternative to email," Godchaux said. "When it comes to delivering messages to hotel guests – who might be celebrating a wedding anniversary or another important event – nice paper has so much sentimental value.”
JAM's expanding presence on the internet exemplifies a company finding solutions to both increased rent prices and customer demand. The overhead is less daunting, and savvy shoppers are rewarded with convenience.
JAM Paper & Envelope was founded in 1955. “JAM” stands for Janet, Andrew, and Michael Jacobs, a family that owns and operates the company.
