MINNEAPOLIS - June 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Pet lovers in the Minneapolis area should get their four-legged (or no-legged!) friends ready for the 2014 Minnesota Pet Expo. The expo will be jam-packed with an abundance of local and nationally-recognized veterinarians, groomers, trainers, retailers and organizations geared towards pet lovers.

Whether your pet slithers or hops, we invite animals of all ages (and their two-legged parents) to attend. If Fluffy is prone to crankiness, though, we have a few tips to help ensure he or she still has the best day possible.

- Only bring your pet along if it is well-behaved, non-aggressive and doesn’t get stressed out in crowded, stimulating and noisy situations. There are all kinds of other animals, small children, wheelchairs and lots of people at the event. Your pet will be exposed to dogs barking, people speaking loudly on microphones, crowds clapping and attendees cheering. You know your pet best, so please make sure that your pet will enjoy the expo just as much as you will. That goes for your children too.

- This is a LARGE event that will require lots of walking. While the event is indoors and air-conditioned, it’s a lot of exercise for breeds (such as English Bulldogs) that don’t handle heat or exercise well, so you may want to bring a stroller or wagon for them. Or, you know, you can carry them. In that case, bring some pain medication for your back, too.

- The asphalt throughout the parking lot may be extremely hot. It could easily burn your pets’feet if your pet has to walk across it. Consider putting booties or some sort of protective footwear on your four-legged friend. Besides, can you really resist an animal in booties?

The Minnesota Pet Expo will also feature opportunities for fan photos and autographs with both Shorty Rossi (Animal Planet’s “Pit Boss”& “America’s Cutest Pets”) and Celebrity Dog Trainer Harrison Forbes (“Good Morning America”and the “Today Show”), along with more than 50 exhibitors, live entertainment and demonstrations, and a Petfinder.com mega-adoption area with more than 250 rescue pets available for adoption. Low-cost immunizations, discounted microchipping and free nail trims will also be available for all the furry friends who need them.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 14th, 2014 from 10am to 6pm, at Minneapolis Convention Center. This free, indoor and air-conditioned event is expected to attract nearly 10,000 attendees along with their furry, feathered and reptilian pals who are looking to enjoy a new and one-of-a-kind experience where all pets can enjoy a fun day out with their pet parent(s). All well-behaved pets are welcome, as long as they’re on a fixed lead (or in a carrier) and have proof of age-appropriate rabies vaccines.
