ABC SOUTH TEXAS CHAPTER Launches Contractor Training for Superbugs

The ABC – South Texas Chapter Launches New Training Curriculum For Contractors Working In the Healthcare Sector And Its High Risk Quadrants
By: ABC SOUTH TEXAS

HOUSTON - June 3, 2014 - PRLog -- San Antonio, Texas – The ABC – South Texas Chapter announced today that it will partner with Philders Group International Inc./The Linders Health Institute to launch a professional training and education program  designed to introduce and review the factors regarding infection control and emerging infectious diseases in the public sector. “Best Practices for Infection Prevention during the Construction of Healthcare Buildings” will be offered in the Dallas, Houston and San Antonio markets in the coming months.

This critical program will address the serious issue of Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) as it pertains to the AEC (architects, engineers, and contractors) working in the healthcare environment during construction, renovation, demolition and throughout the built environment. Students will also receive continuing ED credits for LEED and AIA.

It is widely understood that indoor environmental pollutants such as E. coli, C-Diff, Norovirus, Staph infections (Staphylococcus Aureus), and Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) are increasingly being encountered in the healthcare construction  environment, including vulnerable healthcare settings and contributing to significant health problems. Professionals will learn compliance requirements for high risk quadrants in the hospital setting, vulnerable patient populations, and employee exposure risks during real work time. Additionally, students understand the culture of healthcare and how to effectively communicate in the medical environments by learning the language of healthcare.  The professional will also develop an understanding of ICRA and how it affects their profession from a performance standpoint, meeting compliance requirements for the healthcare environment.
