A New Twist In Typing Practice

New website has a different approach when it comes to typing speed ( WPM ) tests.

LAS VEGAS - May 29, 2014 - PRLog -- There are literally thousands of websites where you can do a typing speed test, but Official-Typing-Test.com takes a different approach - preparing people for their real world test. Ben Denzer, president of the site said "Every other site that I have tried has some very obvious defects. You can learn the quirks of the test to get your best possible score, but when you go to another site you have to learn a whole new set of rules. We made a test that doesn't alert you if you have made errors, doesn't stop and force you to make corrections, or disable the backspace key - It sounds simple, but apparently nobody has thought of this yet."

The site's premise is to prepare users for real-world typing tests for employment. But it is also good practice for anyone who uses a computer. Typing has become a daily routine for hundreds of millions of people, and skilled typists are in demand.

The test chooses a random paragraph from an archive of old, un-copyrighted literature. Unlike most other tests, the text that you are reading is not formatted the same as the words that you are writing, making it more realistic as you can not easily read the test paragraph and the typed words all at once. Another thing that makes http://official-typing-test.com unique, as silly as this may sound, is that your keyboard is fully functional. "Some of the popular sites will not let you correct your errors, disabling the backspace key. Other sites will not let you proceed with the test until you type the correct letter, disabling all other keys," said Denzer "This is fine, as long you only use your keyboard at that one specific site. But it doesn't make much sense to get in these habits."

Official-Typing-Test.Com does not provide a skills certificate because in Denzer's words "It would be worthless. If you were hiring for a data entry job, would you believe a certificate from 'some typing test dot com'? Probably not, you are going to have the person do a skills test in person. Practice your typing, and read our articles at http://official-typing-test.com/links.html so you are prepared for that test."
