SEM Link host Math and Science Boot Camp for Students, Parents and Educators on May 31st

OAKLAND, Calif. - May 6, 2014 - PRLog -- SEM Link through its Math and Science Career Academy will host a Math and Science Boot Camp for students in grades 8-12 as well as parents and educators of students in those grades. The boot camp will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 8:30am- 2:00pm at DeVry University- Oakland Center located at 505 14^th Street in Oakland. The purpose of the boot camp is to prepare students to be college and career ready in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.  .  The cost for the boot camp is $15 for parents and educators and $10 for students, which includes lunch.  Attendees much pre-register for the event online http://sfstembootcamp.eventbrite.com pre-registration ends on Tuesday, May 27.

The workshops will equip students with strategies and tools to be prepared to major in a STEM discipline in college and pursue a STEM career. The workshops for parents and educators will teach them how to support their students’ efforts to become college and career ready in STEM. In addition to the workshop, there will be a resource fair with organizations in which students can learn about STEM careers and the college application/financial aid process. “If we work together as parents and educators (informal and formal) it is possible for every child to be college and career ready upon high school graduation. As an organization that promotes academic achievement and career exploration in STEM, I feel it is important that we host this event that will provide guidance for students to make decisions that will put them in a position to pursue a STEM career prior to their arrival on a college campus” states Ms. Tokiwa T.
