Russell Martin Carpets Building Global Partnership

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - April 28, 2014 - PRLog -- Russell Martin owners Dave and Rae Martin recently traveled to New Zealand as a guest of Wools of New Zealand to build a global partnership between the two firms.  Wools of New Zealand is a cooperative of over 750 premium farms selling New Zealand wool.

The Martins visited shearing sheds and spoke with the partners to learn more about the process and the product. Russell Martin is one of just five Premier Partner of Wools of New Zealand in the state. It is an exclusive partnership for stores with a commitment to high quality wool products, staff training, and customer service.

While in New Zealand the Martins visited three different sheep farms and were hosted for three days by Wools of New Zealand CEO Ross Townshend.  Additionally, the Martins were featured on the front page of a New Zealand newspaper discussing the increasing demand for natural, high quality products in the Naperville market, including New Zealand wool. The Martin’s daughter, Kate Martin-Moeller serves on the Wools of New Zealand Premier Partnership Advisory Council, making Russell Martin one of just six stores in the nation to have such a role.

“New Zealand wool is a renewable and biodegradable product, and it’s made in one of the world’s greenest production system. As people are really turning away from synthetics towards high quality natural products, and New Zealand wool is just that,” said Rae Martin.

The wool is also the first to have international tracking, meaning customers know exactly where the products are coming from, unlike with synthetic mass-produced products. One Naperville couple’s carpet was recently traced back to the Castlepoint Station Sheep Farm, run by Emily and Anders Crofoot in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand’s North Island; the Station has been farmed since 1847.
