As the number of photobioreactors in an algae growing operation increases, there is a need for both independent decentralized control and monitoring of individual PBRs, and also centralized oversight and control from a separate location. Algae Lab Systems has now expanded its software offerings with two products that enable Central Oversight and Control. Both can interface to existing HMI/Scada software.

The ALS-DB-SQLS is a DataBase based offering: when SQL Server or other similar database packages is installed on a central computer, multiple AlgaeConnect boxes' sensor and control data point values will be saved to the SQL Server in soft real time through ethernet/Wi-Fi connections at the user specified rate. The data is then available for polling from HMI/Scada software packages like Indusoft and WonderWare or direct interface to user software.

The ALS-DB-API is a direct polling software package: when the software is installed on the central computer, it will have direct read/write soft real time access into the data point values of sensors and control modules over an ethernet/Wi-Fi connection. Here again the data is then available for HMI/Scada type polling from software packages like Indusoft and WonderWare.
