Bobbitt Transforms Bank into New Animal Hospital

KNIGHTDALE, N.C. - April 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Bobbitt Design Build recently renovated a former First Citizens Bank building into a full-service veterinary hospital, Smithfield Road Veterinary Clinic, in Knightdale, N.C. The new 3,000-square-foot animal hospital, located on 1101 N. Smithfield Road, preserved the bank’s existing features to create a one-of-a-kind facility.

Smithfield Road Vet, which provides hospital and boarding services, challenged Bobbitt to integrate the bank’s existing features into the new design. The Bobbitt team repurposed the existing bank vault, a fully enclosed concrete space from floor to ceiling, into the clinic’s new x-ray room, which meets radiation shielding requirements. To maximize the area for exam rooms and kennels, Bobbitt worked around the existing bathrooms and teller areas and also enclosed the drive-through teller area for more boarding capacity.

Smithfield Road Veterinary Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
