GOLETA, Calif. - April 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Public speaker and award winning author, Ramona Moreno Winner, expands her speaking topic to include Mental Health Disorders Across Cultures.  Ramona’s workshops for educators introduce several mental disorders affecting our youth, such as: ADD, ADHD, Depression, BiPolar Disorders, Anxiety disorders, Schizophrenia, and Eating Disorders.

Workshops are geared to explore how student learning is affected (learning environment, socialization, isolation).  How learning is affected (focus, understanding, esteem).  How some cultures are more enlightened in treating individuals with mental disorders, and how to end social stigma (denial, avoidance, shame).

Workshops are conducted on-site for school districts across the United States.  “My company, Planting Seeds of Acceptance, was created to address issues of diversity, prejudice, tolerance and acceptance.” Says Winner.  “One out of every four families, statistically, knows of someone, or is affected by a mental health disorder.  Educators need to know how this affects their student body.”

A certified teacher for the National Alliance for Mental Health Family to Family course, a former Family Advocate for the Santa Barbara Mental Wellness Center, and a parent of a son diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Ramona is involved with her community to support individuals with mental health disorders.
