March 31, 2014 - PRLog -- Johannesburg, South Africa – With less than 3 months to go before the 4th edition of the auspicious Africa Health Exhibition & Congress scheduled to take place in the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, organisers are gearing up to host yet another robust gathering of healthcare professionals and medical experts from around the world who will engage in extensive discussions, debate, and networking from 29-31 May 2014.

Dubbed as the continent’s premier medical showcase, the event, which is hosted by Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions, comprises a three-day conference and exhibition featuring the latest medical innovations from 400 local and international exhibitors and 16 country pavilions (up from 8 in 2013) taking up 5000sq.m of exhibition space. Africa Health 2014 will once again feature MEDLAB South Africa (the medical laboratory & IVD show) running alongside the event for the 4th year.

“Africa Health 2014 will no doubt demonstrate that the healthcare sector in South Africa and the surrounding region is going from strength to strength. It has been our mission to create a global event that allows healthcare professionals to exchange knowledge, network, learn, share experiences, and zone in on issues applicable to their profession and trade. We have added more value to this year’s event by introducing a Training Village which will consist of a designated area where top specialists in the healthcare sector will run hands-on training sessions on the most sophisticated and state-of-the-art devices and technology”, says Simon Page, Managing Director, Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions.

In addition to the Training Village, the event will also feature two new conferences, as well as two new workshops and a roundtable discussion, thereby attracting a wider range of delegates. The new conferences will focus on Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, as well as Diabetes.

According to Page, “This year, a total of 5000 attendees are expected and more than 100 papers will be presented by a wide range of international medical experts at 14 CPD-accredited conferences. The event not only seeks to focus on healthcare matters, but also seeks to plough back to the local community by donating all proceeds from registrations for the 14 conferences to a local charity.”

Africa Health helps to put the spotlight on the state of the African healthcare industry. With a continent that is traditionally burdened by disease, it has become increasingly essential for Africa’s governments to seek ways of providing high quality, affordable services. Africa Health provides a platform to make inroads into the provision of efficient and effective healthcare services for the region.

Africa Health 2014 is supported by the South African Nursing Council (SANC), the CFSA (CSSD Forum of South Africa), the Alliance of South African Independent Practitioners Association (ASAIPA), and Diabetes South Africa.
