Talented Women Who Endured Many Hardships and Convinced the World To See Their Passion

NEW YORK - March 18, 2014 - PRLog -- Marian L. Thomas might be the first African American pioneer of contemporary women’s clean fiction, as she has often stated that she never writes explicit erotic scenes, instead preferring to offer her readers ‘a refreshing and engaging dramatic story that revolves around strong female characters’. She is well-known for her unique writing style, and the controversial themes she discusses in her novels challenge the readers to consider problems such as family strife, race, abuse, and divorce. Her novels have very realistic plots and believable characters people can relate to, so it is no surprise that Marian L. Thomas has won important prizes for ‘My Father’s Colors’ and ‘Strings of Color’, which have also been seen on national television stations, such as the Oprah Winfrey Network, Ovation, and A & E Network. Her newest novel, ‘Blue Butterfly’, is scheduled for release on April 4.

It is not a coincidence that ‘Blue Butterfly’ will be published on April 4, as this is also the anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. As homage to his life and work, Marian L. Thomas connected his death to the destiny of her main character, Precious Blue Johnson. On October 14, 1964, the American pastor, activist, and humanitarian received the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through nonviolence. He is one of the most important figures in Black History, and in ‘Blue Butterfly’ he touched the life of a young white ballerina, Anya Duport. Anya will later become Precious Blue’s mother, passing on to her daughter her grace, talent, and determination to make it in the world of ballet.

This is the story of a young, yet strong woman, who dreams of becoming the world’s first black ballerina. In building her lead character, Marian L. Thomas was inspired by some of the most famous black ballerinas of all times: Raven Wilkinson, Lauren Anderson, Tai Jimenez, Misty Copeland, and Aesha Ash. These talented women went through many hardships to convince the world to see their passion and skill instead of the color of their skin. Just like them, Precious Blue will follow her dream and overcome all obstacles to reach her high goals. Along the way, she will make friends and enemies, and she will even discover true love.

When she leaves her hometown to find success in New York, Precious Blue is not sure how she will accomplish everything, but she knows she is ready to try. Also, she hopes to find her birth father and learn more about herself. Her story is also a journey of self-discovery, because at the end of it, Blue will realize how much she has grown and changed. ‘Blue Butterfly’ has all the ingredients to keep the readers engaged: a strong female character, an intriguing plot, fast-paced action, and a motivational story that will inspire people to follow their own dreams and never give up no matter how difficult things seem at first.
