Church Vows to “Help Make a Difference” in Our Community

Morning Star Community Christian Center mobilizes its over 1,000 congregants to support volunteering with local organizations

LINDEN, N.J. - March 11, 2014 - PRLog -- On Sunday, March 16, 2014, over 1,000 congregants will join with Senior Pastor Therman Evans to launch “Servolution – A Church Revolution Through Serving.”  With the nationwide decline in volunteering, Morning Star is launching Servolution to highlight the importance of reaching our community with the message that change is not only possible but that we can be a blueprint to help make change happen.  Senior Pastor Therman Evans states, “one of the better-known benefits of volunteering/serving is the positive impact on the community.  We should never get tired of serving others, as sometimes those little things occupy the biggest part of their hearts.”

Servolution is a collaborative effort of more than 30 of the church’s ministries uniting to connect with our local organizations.  A few of the organizations that Morning Star is partnering with include:

Habitat for Humanity

Communities in Cooperation, Linden
Essex County Juvenile Detention Center

Children's Specialized Hospital
YWCA of Eastern Union County
Sickle Cell Association of NJ
Community Food Bank of NJ
Street Light Mission, Elizabeth
Urban League of Union County

While much has changed through the years, the heart and mission of Morning Star is the same which is: to impact the world through sharing, caring, empowerment, and productivity.  We see this initiative as a very positive way to celebrate the community spirit of Linden, Roselle, Elizabeth and Union County.

A staple in the community for more than 40 years, Morning Star continues to provide the resources to serve the unmet needs of residents in the community, with the giving of scholarships, bagged food supplies, book bags, school supplies, and other items.  We are asking civic organizations and concerned citizens throughout Union, Essex, and Middlesex counties to join us on Sunday, March 16 at 7:55am or 10:55am as we launch this exciting initiative.   Anyone wishing additional information is asked to email – servolution@morningstarccc.org.
