Constine Evans Scholarship Fund (CESF) to Award Scholarships Totalling $25K to High School Graduates

The 5th Annual Constine Evans Luncheon promotes scholastic excellence by giving more than four scholarships and one leadership scholarship to a Linden High School Senior. All are invited to attend, must RSVP by May 5, 2013.

LINDEN, N.J. - April 15, 2013 - PRLog -- The Constine Evans Scholarship Fund ("CESF") of Morning Star Community Development Corporation will be hosting their 5th Annual Scholarship Luncheon on Saturday, May 18, 2013. From noon to 3pm, the committee will honor middle school, high school and college graduates of 2013, give special recognition to students that have demonstrated academic excellence, and award distinguished high school & college students with scholarships totaling $25,000. All of the recipients nominated achieved high academics, demonstrated a commitment to community and are active members of Morning Star Community Christian Center.

One of the scholarships being awarded is the Bishop Irvin Evans, Sr. Memorial Scholarship for Leadership.  This special award will be given to a Linden High School Senior that has high academics and proven to have given time and service to his/her community.  This scholarship is in honor of Bishop Evans, a leader who placed great emphasis on the value of education as well as exemplified great commitment to community. Bishop Evans is remembered for his memorable speech marks, one of which, “To change our world, we must first change our community…ONE CHILD AT A TIME!”

With the “$1-A-DAY” initiative, CESF has an ultimate goal to raise one million dollars to pay full, four year college education for many deserving students. With the support of the “$1-A-DAY” initiative and other fundraisers, the Scholarship Fund awarded over $50,000 in scholarships within the past two years. In addition to the annual scholarships, CESF offers year-round programs and services to current and prospective college students.

CESF was created to honor Constine Evans who was the founding mother of Morning Star Community Christian Center.  CESF is part of the Morning Star Community Development Corporation, a 501 (c ) (3), a nonprofit organization that manages vital community services.
