endoscope-i Shortlisted for Innovation Award

BARNSLEY, U.K. - March 7, 2014 - PRLog -- The award celebrates the achievements of the region’s leading Healthcare and Life Sciences organisations for the development of an innovative technology, design or process.

Developed by British ENT surgeons, the endoscope-i adapter and app enables doctors to view, record, and share HD endoscopic images and videos using an iPhone with almost any endoscope.

The endoscopic mobile imaging system, originally developed for otology examinations has been used worldwide in many other areas of medicine, such as urology, anaesthesia, cardiothoracics and veterinary sciences, and even industrial engineering.

Chris Coulson, an ENT Consultant and a managing director at endoscope-i, said: “the system takes the image seen through an endoscope’s small lens and magnifies it on screen in HD, enabling me to capture images or record videos.  These are shown to our patients and uploaded to their electronic health records. They also provide excellent material for training.  endoscope-i is much more cost effective than the current stack systems, very portable and easy to use.  We are thrilled that this technology has been recognised for the innovation it provides for patient care.”

Medilink will announce the winner at a special awards ceremony, which will take place on 19 March at the Royal Armouries, Leeds.
