CHILDREN’S MUSIC FUND’S FIFTH ANNUAL LAUGHTER IS MEDICINE BENEFIT

AT THE (http://www.crescenthotelgroup.com/#home) LAUGH FACTORY IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

PERFORMANCE BY COMEDIAN MAZ JOBRANI

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 3, 2014)–On February 10, 2014, the Children’s Music Fund (http://thecmf.org/) (CMF) will hold its fifth annual Laughter is Medicine benefit event at The Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, California. The event will include a performance by renowned comedian Maz Jobrani.

The Laughter is Medicine event is one of the primary fundraisers for the CMF, which was established in 2002 by Dr. Raffi Tachdjian, an allergist and pediatric pain specialist.  While Dr. Tachdjian was an intern at Massachusetts General Hospital, he was inspired by his teenage patient, Justin, a virtuoso guitarist who had won several awards for his performances.  Justin had failed multiple experimental protocols for treatment of his bone cancer.  Finding him expressionless, Dr. Tachdjian gave up on his notepad to focus on the one thing that seemed to excite his patient–Music!

"An important part of the mission of Children's Music Fund is to provide music therapy for children with life-altering illnesses,”says Raffi Tachdjian, MD, MPH, President and Founder of CMF.  “Research shows that music therapy can have a big impact on children who are hospitalized or suffering from serious illnesses.  It helps them build the confidence and positive attitude they need to get them through their difficult struggle.

Individual tickets to the Laughter is Medicine event are $50 for General Admission or $100 for VIP Admission and can be purchased by visiting http://www.itsmyseat.com/cmf or the CMF website atwww.thecmf.org.  Tickets may also be purchased by contacting Lindsay Henry at Lindsay@thecmf.org.
