LA JOLLA, Calif. - Jan. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- The First Annual World Encephalitis Day was recently announced by the Encephalitis Society from North Yorkshire UK.
Here in North America, Encephalitis Global, Inc. (a USA-registered non profit organization) Speakers at the Conference will include: Dr. Jacopo Annese, director of The Brain Observatory at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Annese's studies include specific diseases that impact the structure and function of the brain, such as Alzheimer’s disease and HIV/AIDS; Dr.Melanie Burgos-Alarcio, pediatric neurologist from Phoenix Arizona. Dr. Alarcio has treated many patients with autoimmune encephalitis/ Becky Dennis, author of Brain Wreck and patient advocate as well as chief marketing officer of a publicly traded New York company. Becky is an encephalitis survivor who will speak on patient advocacy. Marius van Welie, author and encephalitis survivor will travel from The Netherlands to discuss his book, “God's Humor: my life after Encephalitis.” Aad Bastemeijer, Marius’ partner for 27 years, Secretary of the Board of Facility Management, Policy Control and Evaluation, City of The Hague, Netherlands. He will speak on the experience of being an encephalitis survivor's partner and caregiver. Elise Verberg (writer and professional coach) is acting chairman of the Dutch Meningitis Society and is Marius van Welie's ghostwriter. FACES Encephalitis Conference organizers will welcome attendees who wish to learn more about this misunderstood and often misdiagnosed disease. End
