Nissan Considers Production Version of BladeGlider Concept | AutoCenters Nissan

Jan. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- WOOD RIVER, ILL.— Nissan recently revealed that the automaker is considering a production model of the BladeGlider concept car!

The Nissan BladeGlider concept was inspired by Nissan’s ZEOD RC, which was Nissan’s entry into the 2014 Le Mans 24-hours. When asked by Car Magazine about the possibility of debuting a production BladeGlider, Nissan’s chief planning officer Andy Palmer said, “It’s in our mid-term plan. Our intention is to do it.”

The ‘swept wing’ BladeGlider offers improved aerodynamics thanks to its shape and design, with a 30:70 front-to-rear weight distribution.

Nissan could not yet predict when the BladeGlider might go to production, if it happens, but Palmer noted, “‘It changes your perception of how a car handles: the weight is over the back wheels, it drifts in a neutral way, and it’s guilt-free fun. It looks entirely different, it’s fun to drive and it doesn’t harm the planet. Never in my life have I driven a car that drives like that. Nothing drives like it.”
