MONROE, Wash. - Dec. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- The Pacific Northwest is all wrapped up in green and blue and is under the influence of Seahawk Fever! The excitement and success of Seattle Seahawks football has gripped this region like nothing else and everywhere you go you see jerseys, hats and 12th man flags. It is no different at The Rock Church (Monroe, WA) where on Sunday mornings the worship center is filled with people showing their Seahawk pride wearing jerseys of their favorite Seahawk player.

Pastor Jeff Knight, a huge Seahawk fan himself, is tapping into this fever and will kick off 2014 with a five part message series titled First: The Making of a Champion. “This series will allow us to add a championship component to every Sunday experience through to the Super Bowl,” said Pastor Jeff. “Let us all start the year off in church, living for God and cheering our Seahawks on to the big game!”

The series begins on January 5th with Get It Right The First Time. There will be 5 Dynamic Duo’s dropping wisdom bombs for 5 minutes each. This has been a TRC annual favorite; always enlightening, often funny and filled with encouragement.

January 12 brings Who’s On First, featuring a video from Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson is the leader of the Seahawks team and has an amazing story to share. Thought by many in the NFL to be too small to be a successful quarterback, Wilson was not drafted until the third round by Seattle. He immediately started to impress coaches and teammates with his desire, commitment and work ethic. His motto from the beginning has always been “The separation is in the preparation” and he is frequently the first one into the Seahawks training center before dawn, watching films and studying his next opponent. But Russell is also really strong in his faith and love for God and believes in serving his community. Every Tuesday you will find him at Seattle Children’s Hospital giving inspiration and support to patients at every level of care.

On January 19th, If At First You Don’t Succeed will feature video testimony from Seahawks running back, Marshawn Lynch. Nicknamed “Beast Mode” for his intense, pounding, punishing, never-quit running style, Lynch has a powerful story to tell. Growing up in Oakland, CA, surrounded by drugs, gangs and violent crime, Marshawn used the guidance of his mother and love of football to escape and ultimately succeed in reaching his dream. He has overcome a tough neighborhood, not having a father in his life, racial profiling and some bad decisions to reach stardom in the NFL, but still remembers his roots and continues to give back to hiscommunity.

January 26th, Now That’s a First highlights the incredible story of Jacob Rainey, the high school quarterback who overcame the trauma of losing part of his leg and still was able to compete and earn an invitation to play at the University of Virginia. This is a powerful message of faith, hope and dedication you won’t want to miss!

The five part series concludes on February 2nd, Super Bowl Sunday! The message content is yet to be determined and will be heavily influenced by the Seahawks run through the playoffs. It is hoped that The Rock Church will be able to host a huge tailgate and viewing party to include worshiping God and cheering on our Seahawks! Follow The Rock Church online at @trclife on Twitter or http://www.facebook.com/trclife to get updated information about each of the events throughout the Seahawks road to the Super Bowl.

In addition to the weekly messages, the service on January 12th will include a newcomer reception starting at 11:00 AM. Everyone who has attended for the first time in the last several weeks is encouraged to attend. January 26th will include Child Dedications and a Make It Your Church Luncheon following the 11:30 service. The luncheon is a great opportunity to learn more about what it means to be a TRC member and meet Lead Pastors Jeff and Melinda Knight. For more information about both opportunities, stop by the Information Kiosk in the Lobby.

Pastors Jeff and Melinda, along with their team, look forward to welcoming you to TRC as we launch into 2014. First time guests are encouraged to let the parking attendants know you’re here for the first time. They will guide you to the special parking area near the entrance and volunteers are standing by to help with your kids, too. Infant childcare and top-notch, age appropriate activities for toddlers to 5th grade students is provided in the TRC Kids Ministries.
