Customers came in as expected and they ate favorites like the Crêpe Cellar Burger – an award-winning dish topped with onion straws and served with hand-cut twice-fried French fries. And they ordered up salads, savory and sweet Crêpes and their delicious fish and chips. But Crêpe Cellar was not only serving food that day, but also the larger community – by donating all revenues to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. It’s common for companies to give a portion of profits, but Crêpe Cellar changed the game by giving 100% of the entire day’s sales away. “We wanted to give a sizable gift – one that could truly make a difference in people’s lives,” says Jeff Tonidandel, one of the owners of Crêpe Cellar. “Giving all revenues was a good way for us to make that happen, right in time for the holiday season.” They did raise a sizable gift: nearly $3,000. Assisting with food banks is important to Crêpe Cellar – who serves up hundreds of meals to customers every day. There’s a lot of need right here in the Charlotte area, Crêpe Cellar confirms, and Second Harvest reaches needy programs including food pantries, senior centers, soup kitchens, shelters and low-income daycares. Helping in the local community is a great fit for the independently- “This day was a great gift for our customers as well,” continues Tonidandel, “it gave them the chance to give back, too.” Located just two miles northeast of Uptown Charlotte, Crêpe Cellar is rated as Urbanspoon’s #1 gastropub in Charlotte.
