NEW YORK - Dec. 11, 2013 - PRLog -- This week’s “Sportfolio” on Bloomberg TV looks at the business of premium fan experiences, premium sports business deals and the value of sports to help sell premium entertainment. Kleiner Perkins partner Joe Lacob, a titan in the world of Silicon Valley venture capital, bought the NBA Golden State Warriors in 2010 and has revitalized the struggling franchise. Rick Horrow sits down with Lacob to discuss the team's turnaround on and off the court, as well as his plans for a new waterfront arena in San Francisco scheduled to open in 2017.

Bloomberg Senior West Coast Correspondent Jon Erichman also interviews Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant about his new $48 million contract, his business relationship with NIKE, and his future plans for sports ownership. Bryant also reveals the four NBA all-timers he would select as teammates in a pickup game.

As the value of sports media continues to soar, will entertainment programming services look to sports to generate revenue and boost their brands?  EPIX, a joint venture between Viacom, Paramount, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Lionsgate, is a premium entertainment channel launched in 2009. EPIX CEO Mark Greenberg helped build Showtime’s offerings using sports like boxing and MMA and other specials, and he joins Horrow to discuss the role of issue-related sports content, ranging from in-depth features on athletes like Lindsay Vonn, Amare’ Stoudemire and Dwight Howard to documentaries like “SCHOOLED: The Price of College Sports,”  in his company's growth strategy.

"Sportfolio," the only weekly show dedicated to sports business, airs Thursday night at 9:30 PM and 12:30 AM ET Friday on Bloomberg TV (DirecTV353, check your local cable systems for the channel near you). The show reaches more than 270 million households through first-run and syndicated airings.
