For example:

1. If the on-time delivery percentage drops, then a supply chain manager would immediately see this at a summary level. Then, using traffic lighting within their interactive dashboard, they could follow-the problem to its root cause, by drilling into a particular distribution center, down to a shift level, and finally to identify that the issue was caused at a particular loading bay.

2. If "days sales outstanding" increases beyond a critical threshold, it would be visible to a finance manager through their interactive dashboard. By drilling into the issue, the manager could then identify particular customers with overdue invoices. A further drill-down into individual invoices would reveal invoice lines and payment history, perhaps identifying that customers are holding back payments for a specific product line.
