Ascensus Announces Completion of Upromise Investments Acquisition

DRESHER, Pa. - Dec. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Ascensus, the nation’s largest independent retirement plan services provider, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Upromise Investments, Inc., and its affiliates, that was previously announced on September 25, 2013. Upromise Investments is the leading program manager and recordkeeper of 529 college savings plans with over 2.8 million accounts and $50 billion in assets under administration. The business was previously owned by Sallie Mae.

The acquisition extends Ascensus’ footprint into the college savings arena and helps diversify the company into a new market with characteristics that are similar to its core recordkeeping strengths. As a result of the acquisition, Ascensus now helps 5.9 million Americans save for a college education and retire successfully.
