Follow on Google News | Wikipediocracy detects Wikipedia administrator shilling for Indian diploma millWikipedia criticism site Wikipediocracy features the work of Edward Buckner and E. A. Barbour, two researchers who have discovered a Wikipedia administrator controlling the encyclopedia's content about the Indian Institute of Planning and Management.
By: Wikipediocracy A notorious "diploma mill" in India, the Indian Institute of Planning and Management, has a very favorable Wikipedia article. The same can be said for the articles about its owner, businessman Arindam Chaudhuri, and related topics. Buckner and Barbour have discovered why: all such articles are being controlled by a Wikipedia administrator called "Wifione". This apparent paid editor is not only operating with impunity to bias Wikipedia content, he is receiving at least tacit support from other Wikipedia administrators. "Wifione" was suspected of being a previously disgraced administrator called "Nichalp", who was tossed out of Wikipedia for pushing his point of view. Yet he likely has returned, and this time gained adminship powers. Wifione is not merely making certain articles positive. He is also using Wikipedia to defame Chaudhuri's enemies, openly. Barbour will publish the findings on the Wikipediocracy blog today, in advance of their book. The blog can be found at: http://www.Wikipediocracy.com Because of the recent scandal over editor "Morning277" FOR MORE INFORMATION E-mail: media@wikipediocracy.com Gregory Kohs 489 Lake George Circle West Chester, PA 19382 USA Phone: 484-NEW-WIKI -or- E.
