Nicaragua presents investment and trade opportunities in Paris

Nicaragua presented its business opportunities in the “Investment and Trade Opportunities in Nicaragua” forum that took place on November 20th in Paris.
 
MANAGUA, Nicaragua - Nov. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Nicaragua presented its business opportunities in the “Investment and Trade Opportunities in Nicaragua” forum that took place on November 20th in Paris, an event organized by PRONicaragua with the support of Nicaragua’s embassy in France and the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF, for its acronym in French). The purpose of the forum was to generate interest on behalf of French companies to explore business opportunities in Nicaragua, within the framework of the recently approved Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union.

Approximately 30 French businessmen interested in learning about Nicaragua’s business opportunities participated in the activity.

The Nicaraguan delegation that visited the country for this event was led by General Álvaro Baltodano, Presidential Delegate for Investments; Paul Oquist, Private Secretary for National Policies; Orlando Solórzano, Minister of Development, Industry and Trade; Emilio Rappaccioli, Minister of Energy and Mines; and Enrique Zamora, Vice-president of the Superior Council of the Private Enterprise (COSEP, for its acronym in Spanish), who was accompanied by Nicaraguan businessmen.

The forum was inaugurated by Daniel Develay, President of the France-Central America Entrepreneurs Council and Director of Tractebel Engineering; and preceded by an overall country overview by General Baltodano. The event concluded with Clément Ponçon, owner of Simplemente Madera, a luxury furniture exporter, who spoke about his company’s successful investing experience in Nicaragua.

The conference program covered topics such as Nicaragua’s economic performance in recent years, the government and private sector alliance, Nicaragua’s Grand Canal project, the opportunities provided by the Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union, Nicaragua’s energy sector transformation, and the strategies implemented to strengthen the country’s security.
