Nicaraguan manufacturing industry will be promoted in Mexico
PRONicaragua is organizing a business trip to Mexico to promote the country’s investment opportunities in the manufacturing industry.
The 2014 National index Convention will be held from November 19-21 in Mexico City and is organized by the National Council of the Maquiladora and Manufacturing Export Industry (index). This event is a political and business gathering for the Maquiladora and Manufacturing Export Industry for representatives of the private sector, government, chambers, associations, and national and international opinion leaders.
On the other hand, the 2014 World Footwear Congress will be held this November 24-25 in Leon, Guanajuato. The congress will be titled “Keeping one step ahead: Meeting the challenges of the footwear sector” and is organized by the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC). The event seeks to serve as a platform for discussing the constant changes and challenges of the footwear industry since the beginning of globalization.
The manufacturing industry of Nicaragua has grown due to advantages such as the strategic location in the center of the Americas with access to both oceans, preferential access to key international markets, one of the most competitive cost structures in the region, generous investment incentives, and high levels of citizen security.
During the first semester of 2014, total exports of Nicaragua’s manufacturing industry have increased 10 percent in relation to the same period in 2013, according to the National Free Zone Commission. The industry’s exports—which include textile and garments, automotive harnesses, and footwear—have totaled over US$1 billion.
