| Sherway Gardens' Gallery in the Garden: Nandor Horthy - Recent PaintingsBy: Sherway Gardens “Painting is my pleasure; indeed it is my life,” states Nandor Horthy. “At this time of my life I feel confident that I have achieved a good measure of recognition as an artist and hope that people will continue to appreciate my art as much as I enjoy creating it.” Nandor’s approach to painting is fairly traditional, but not always purely representational. While sometimes dramatic, he generally strives for peaceful, calming beauty in his work. He creates quiet paintings, compelling subject matter and concise, elegant compositions. A full time professional artist for more than forty five years, Toronto artist Nandor is an elected signature member of the Society of Canadian Artists and past president of Hungarian Visual Artists of Canada. Nandor was born and educated in Hungary, where he studied art and music. With his family, he immigrated to Canada in 1957, playing music at night and working as an artist during the day. After several years fine art over-took music. During his artistic career, Nandor has won numerous prizes in Canada and the U.S. Visit http://nandorhorthy.com/ About Sherway Gardens’ Gallery in the Garden: Sherway Gardens’ Gallery in the Garden was established to showcase local artists.
