TEE OFF FOR KIDS

LECANTO - The prestigious Black Diamond Quarry Course will host the 5th Annual Tee Off for Kids on Veterans Day, November 11, 2013 benefiting Kids Central, the local nonprofit serving children and families in crisis.  Ret. Lt. Col. Frank Rasbury of Ocala will be Kids Central’s Honored Guest joining the veterans and civilians who will be competing to win.  This event was scheduled on Columbus Day in previous years, and with a slight date change and a special invitation to veterans, this event and Kids Central, is getting a lot of attention.  “I’m hearing about it all over town!” said Becky Schatt, Community Development Committee Chair.

Participating golfers will enjoy fresh brewed coffee from Keurig during registration and a gift bag loaded with goodies that include a Black Diamond golf shirt.  Tito’s Vodka will have a Beverage Station serving vodka sensations on the course and three lucky golfers will attempt a $1M Hole-In-One challenge.  There is also a putting contest worth $5,000, and LOVE Honda has placed a brand new Honda Fit on Hole #17.

Active duty Marines from the Ocala West Marine Corp League 1072 Detachment and Airmen from Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach will be playing due to the generosity of Veteran Sponsorships from Youth and Family Alternatives and Jenkins Auto Group.  Members of the Board of Directors will be joined by Florida House Representative Dennis Baxley and Representative Jimmie Smith of the Community and Veterans Affairs Sub-committee and US Congressman Richard Nugent during the Cocktail Hour and Award Ceremony.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit unfunded prevention programs for children and families in crisis.  There has been unprecedented support for this event including sponsorships from Verteks Consulting, Bouchard Insurance, AETNA, Jenkins Auto Group, Ocala Magazine, WIND-FM, Publix, WiseWay Auto Sales, Windstream, Phillips Chrysler Jeep, and over $50,000 in generous in-kind donations from businesses both large and small.

There will be lots of prizes and raffle items and a Silent Auction offered online through www.ShopBidGive.com.  The auction is completely online and anyone can participate and bid on items that are suitable for local pick-up or shipping.
