GeoLynx Spatial Router, GeoComm's ECRF/LVF, Tested at NENA ICE 8 This Week

SAINT CLOUD, Minn. - Nov. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- NENA held the Industry Collaboration Event #8 (ICE 8) in Wheaton, Illinois at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Rice Campus earlier this week. The focus of the event was interoperability with Recording and Logging Components. In Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) all call media must be recorded, including voice, video, and text.  At the event, NENA i3 solutions that are capable of recording and retrieving data to provide historical records for legal purposes, and analyze and trouble shoot NG9-1-1 processes were tested.  The twenty-five companies involved evaluated multi-vendor interaction for the Emergency Call Routing Function (ECRF) for NG9-1-1 call logging and call recording.

The testing included processing calls from origin to termination using several different types of media.  It explored a greater detail of specification called for in the requirements in a variety of different “real world” situations focusing on call recording and logging. Specifically, the following interactions and protocols were evaluated:

State-level LoST queries using civic and geodetic locations
Default routing and error handling at the ECRF and ESRP level
Interaction with i3-compliant call recorders and loggers

“GeoComm remains committed to NENA’s vision of Next-Generation 9-1-1. By participating in ICE 8 and helping plan the event, we had the opportunity to test interoperability and adherence to standards – not just for GeoComm’s ECRF/LVF, but for all vendors attending the event,” stated Brooks Shannon, Product Manager at GeoComm.  “The high degree of face-to-face collaboration among vendors was fantastic, which helped make this ICE, like past events, a significant contributor to the advancement of 9-1-1.”
