CANTON, Conn. - Oct. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Mobile and social technology platform lettrs, www.lettrs.com, which enables cloud-based delivery of more meaningful correspondence, has expanded its social network for letter writing and added Vint Cerf to its Advisory Board, with emphasis on the lettrs Foundation to accelerate technology-enhanced letter writing to impact literacy.

The recent addition of lettrs’ new social features like personal PO Boxes, with creative cloud and postal delivery options has reinvigorated letter writing for a digital and postal age. Today in Dublin the company is taking a page from another century to fuse new calligraphy options.

In just 10 months lettrs has attracted 20,000 writers of mobile and postal letters across 171 countries. A social network for letter writing is emerging with private and public letters, digital or postal.

Mobile and cloud based letter creation is growing rapidly with a “phone-to-phone” letter delivery innovation for letter writers on the go. A new feature is announced in time for the Web Summit in Dublin: hand-scribed calligraphy letters. The words of writers on the lettrs iPhone app or desktop are enhanced by the first lettrs-certified calligraphers, who scribe the words on various fine papers from around the world, hand sealed, addressed, and at $49 are delivered anywhere there is a mailbox or PO Box. This is the first in a series of upcoming premium letter experiences to be announced by the company.

“Our job at lettrs is to not only revive the convenience and accessibility of letter writing, but to reinvent its art and experiences as well, both digitally and physically,” said lettrs CEO Drew Bartkiewicz. “Words matter more than others when it comes to writing a letter that will last, whether the letter is experienced on a mobile device or via paper post. We are pleased to offer this new calligraphy feature in the land of Joyce, Yeats, and Wilde, all men of letters and people who were capable of elevating the human condition through words alone. It is time to find the deeper meaning of our words, especially in a digital age, as letter words will always matter more to relationships than the disposable conversations ballooning in the social sphere.”

To support its lettrs app and calligraphy launch at the Web Summit, lettrs will deliver a special code to attendees who will receive a handwritten offer to try the experience. Attendees will also be invited to write an “Open Letter” in its digital delivery about the importance of words in society, viewable on the Explore page of open letters. Dynamic writing desk themes of Yeats, Wilde, and Joyce have also been added to illustrate the API platform that powers the popular lettrs app.

The first lettrs-certified calligraphy letter in Europe will be delivered to Sir Richard Branson, for his dedication to reinventing old ideas into modern times and trends. Bartkiewicz met Sir Branson at the Inc. Magazine GrowCo Event earlier this year.

Bartkiewicz, a 20-year technology veteran and West Point graduate, founded lettrs when he saw letter writing being neglected by emerging technologies, so he fused new tech with the old principles of letter aspirations and deeper writing. He announced today that 2% of lettrs is owned by the lettrs Foundation for supporting the literacy journeys of gifted or under-privileged student writers across the world.
