By: StreetPass NYC The Nintendo enthusiast group will gather at the Albert Capsouto Park (Laight St., Canal St., and Varick St., New York, NY 10013) between 4:00 PM until 5:20 PM and then migrate up 6th Avenue (South of Spring Street and North of Canal) to attend the parade. Those fans joining StreetPass NYC between those times at the gathering location will have a professional group portrait taken by a veteran Greenwich Village Halloween Parade photographer at 5:30 PM. After the portrait is taken, StreetPass NYC will be given early access to line up in the parade ahead of the hundreds of puppets, fifty-three bands, dancers, artists and thousands of other New Yorkers in costume parading in the nation’s most wildly creative public participatory event in the greatest city in the world! For those who cannot participate, you can watch the parade on TV on channels WPIX from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM and on NY from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Last year the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade was the first event cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. This year the parade will honor the Spirit of Volunteerism including those who sprang into action to pull New York City out of that disaster; the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center Transplant Team and Jeff Bratcher—longtime Parade volunteer—who donated a kidney to the Parade Director’s son, and representatives of all those who have volunteered to marshal and animate giant puppets throughout Parade history and kept the humble arts organization going!
